How to Fill a Dab Rig Properly
A dab rig is a great way to enjoy your concentrates. Once you get the right temperature going, you’ll be able to enjoy dab after dab. Here’s a guide how to put water in your dab the right way.
There are two openings in a dab rig: the mouthpiece and the downstem. The mouthpiece is where you will pull to get the vapor from the dab. The downstem is where you will attach the nail or banger for your dab rig.
Between the two, the mouthpiece is the safest route to go to when pouring water. Bear in mind that you will be heating your banger or dab nail to vaporize your concentrates. Heat and water do not mix. There’s a chance that you will shatter your wet joint should you heat up your nail or banger in a wrong way.
You fill your dab rig the same way, even if it has multiple percs. Continue to pour water through the mouthpiece until all the percs are submerged underwater, and the chamber is almost half-way full.

- Continue to pour until you got the right water level for your dab rig. In general, water should reach almost half-way up the water chamber of the dab rig.
- Do a pull test through the mouthpiece. The dab rig should bubble without splashing your mouth. If splash occurs, pour it out through the mouthpiece.
- Double check the if the downstem is dry before you start using your dab rig.
