The unit

The Cloudious9 Hydrology 9 is a lovely piece of engineering sophistication. It sets the bar for those who are after smoother, cleaner vaporization. The body is made from space-grade aluminum that is light, rustproof, and durable. Its wide, domed mouthpiece comes in high-quality borosilicate glass that is comfortable around your lips. It looks more like a space-age device rather than a vaporizer. When you get your Cloudious9 Hydrology9, you will have:

  • 1 Hydrology9 Unit
  • 1 pc flat head screwdriver
  • 1 pc cleaning tool
  • 1 long cleaning brush
  • 1 short cleaning brush
  • USB cable and charger
  • Two screens

What’s cool about the Hydrology9 is that you have a water chamber that helps you filter the vapor. It’s like a bong that fused itself with a vaporizer. Dragging from the Hydrology9 vaporizer feels like you’re pulling from a bong due to the size of the mouthpiece

You’ll see that there’s an attached stirring tool at the cover of the herb chamber. The major parts mostly snap on and have magnetic connections instead of screws. This allows of easy assembly and disassembly for vaping and maintenance. The base cover also has a dial that you can rotate without disturbing the cap so that you can stir the herbs without having to open the oven.

At the side of the base, you will see an air vent that works just like a carb. You can use it to regulate the drag. The tighter you plug it, the heavier the pull.

How to use:

Turn the unit and cycle through the temperature settings until you get to the highest temperature (red LED lights). Let it heat for 10 minutes, then turn it on again after it auto shuts off. Do it three times to remove the manufacturing oils. Now you’re ready to use the Hydrology9. To use your vaporizer:

  1. Twist open the mouthpiece and attach the aluminum base.
  2. Fill the water chamber up to 70% capacity.
  3. Replace the mouthpiece; make sure it’s snug and tight.
  4. Invert the unit and unscrew the cap from the base to open the heating chamber
  5. Load the unit with freshly-ground herbs, about two-thirds of the way. Do not overfill as this will affect the vaporization, and you won’t be able to screw the lit tight.
  6. Turn on the unit by pressing the button three times. You’ll know it’s on when the lights flash.
  7. Press on the button to cycle through the unit’s preset temperature settings. Once you reach your desired setting, let the unit heat for about 60 seconds.
  8. Hold the Hydrology9 and cover your lips with the mouthpiece. Take slow, smooth draws, regulating the intake by pressing on the air vent.
  9. Mix the herbs by twisting the dial at the base to prevent burning as well as to consume all of your botanicals.

Control

The Hydrology 9 comes with 5 temperature presets that you cycle through by pressing on the power button.

  • Blue – 392°F (200°C)
  • Green– 410°F (210°C)
  • Orange – 428°F (220°C)
  • Purple – 446°F (230°C)
  • Red – 464°F (240°C)

You can cycle through these temperature settings to get the effects that you want with your herbs. The Hydrology9 comes with a patent-pending microchip that monitors and controls the temperature. A slight drop of heat and the unit will fire up to stabilize the unit. No need to spend too much time pre-heating in between draws.

Ease of use

Although the Hydrology9 does have a bit of a ceremony before you use it since you have to take it apart and assemble it again every time you load the unit. Although water-tight, the Hydrology9 can still leak when you invert it to reload your herbs. You have to dump the water out to prevent the water from damaging your electronics.

Vaping experience

This is one of the unique vaping devices you can use. The hit is smooth, flavorful and clean because of the hydraulic system. You already got pure essence since there’s no combustion going on. Add a layer of filtration, and you got yourself a really lovely vapor experience. You taste all the flavors of your flower, and you also feel all the effects of your herbs as you cycle through the heat settings. The vapor is smooth on the throat and lungs, making this an ideal unit for beginners.

Now, if you’re a cloud chaser, the Cloudious9 Hydrology 9 may not be the one for you. Most users decent but not massive cloud formation with the Hydrology9. The good thing is, there’s not much smell, and you won’t be disturbing too many people who are sensitive to the aroma of your botanicals.

However, Hydrology9 is a bit of a let-down for seasoned smokers. The vapor’s hits and flavor are not as strong as other vapes that are within the same price range. Still, the hits are good enough for those who are after the recreational and medicinal effects of their herbs.

Maintenance

Maintenance takes a bit of knowing your unit. You have to know all the parts since you’ll be disassembling it in order to clean the water and herb chambers. The good thing about cleaning the Hydrology9 is that it comes with two sets of brushes. You use the long brush to clean the water ducts, and the short brush for the air ducts, thread, and tunnel opening, as well as the side intake.
If you’re traveling, take the unit apart and putting it back again may be off-putting. However, that extra care and maintenance helps you keep the unit functioning in tip-top shape

Discreetness

The Hydrology9 does not score high on the discreetness category. It’s a bit big to carry around and does not fit in your pocket like a G Pen Nova. Another is the eye-catching light show, which can help keep you entertained, but also tell someone that you’re out there having fun with it. Also, you get generous (but not massive) clouds with the Hydrology9. Not something that you can use in a comfort room stall or a hotel lobby.

When you place the Cloudious9 Hydrology 9 vaporizer inside the leather carrying case, it may look like an innocent water bottle. However, the moment you take a drag from it, people will automatically know what you’re doing with the Hydrology9. It’s also hard to conceal, which you should take note of when you’re traveling to a place where vaping herbs is highly controlled.

The Cloudious9 Hydrology 9 Vaporizer is an impressive and sophisticated way of vaping your herbs. It’s like combining your vaporizer with a water pipe, so you get fresh, clean, smooth vapor minus the particles. It does need a bit of preparation before, during, and after using. You have to have good dexterity to put all the pieces together properly. You will get occasional leaks if the parts are not correctly attached, so it’s really important to check the connections.

If you want a spacy looking vaporizer that is fun to use, we highly recommend the Cloudious 9 Hydrology 9 Vaporizer.
