Dab Pen vs Blunt

Dab bens and blunt both offer the same thing that recreational smokers are craving for: portability. They are both small and can be your traveling buddy almost anywhere. However, which one will be best to give you the experience that you’re looking for?

How it works

A dab pen vaporizers work through a battery system that heats up a chamber or cartridge. You load your dabs or concentrates in the heating chamber and attach the mouthpiece. Vaporizing dabs is as simple as pressing or pulsing on the power button. Depending on the make and model of the dab pen, you can either go for low or high temperature to get the hits that you need. It’s a device that modernizes the way recreational smokers enjoy their hits. Instead of smoke, you’re dealing with vapor when you use a dab pen.

A blunt, on the other hand, is a cylindrical glass tube that lets you smoke your herbs. You can either get one has a slider or a twisty auger screw to manipulate the herbs inside. To enjoy your herb, you use it like you would a cigar or pipe. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and draw as you use a lighter to burn the herbs at the tip.

The Dr. Dabber Light comes with a small USB charger that you can carry around and use discreetly.

Convenience

A dab pen needs charging so that it has enough juice to vaporize your dabs. They come with a USB charger that you can use with your laptop or phone charger. Depending on the battery capacity, it may take 1-3 hours for the dap pen to fully charge. Because dab pens are designed to be portable and discreet, you won’t have any problems with your dab or concentrate leaking while you’re on the go. That is, of course, if you get high-quality dab pens such as what we have here in BigDaddySmoke, and if you maintain it well.

You can also use your blunt to store your herbs, but only for a couple of hours. Others push it for a couple of days if they don’t have anywhere else to save their herbs. However, because the silicone cap is not exactly airtight, you will find your herb a bit stale or dry after a long period.

Ease of use

Your dab pen can come with one to five pre-set temperatures, which you can cycle by pressing on the button. You can start low and gradually increase the temperature depending on your demands. Once you set the temperature, you can use the pen continuously without minding it too much. You do need to control the way you inhale in a dab pen. Deep long draws won’t give you much compared to slow, gentle puffs from the mouthpiece. Dab pens do need a bit of getting used to since we have this orientation of taking deep drags from our bong or dab rig.

Blunts need a bit of dexterity when it comes to loading, especially twisty blunts. Packing it like there’s no tomorrow will interfere with the airflow and make smoking a lousy experience with a blunt. Also, the common mistake that most people do when using blunts is treating it like a cigarette. You have to remember that the cylinder is made of glass, which does not allow air to go through and inside the blunt naturally. You have to practice the proper way of packing as well as pushing the herb forward to keep the cherry going.

You need to clean your 7pipe Twisty Glass Blunt regularly to keep the residue from sticking on the screw and blocking the airway.

Cleaning

Maintenance is highly essential for both a dab pen and a blunt. Regular cleaning keeps your smoking devices functioning the best way possible, and it keeps your device from getting damaged.

Dab pens don’t require much maintenance because you’re not dealing with too much combusted material. You can do a deep cleaning every 2 weeks or a month, depending on how often you use your dab pen. You can clean the mouthpiece regularly with some isopropyl alcohol, and use a bit of heat to take the gunk out of the atomizer.

With blunts, it’s important that you clean it after a good sesh. Because you’re burning off herbs, tar and resin can get stuck inside the glass chamber as well as the slider and screw. You need pipe cleaners to get through all the small holes and nooks, and blunt wipes to take out the gunk from the screw or slide.

Hits

Dab pens get you medicated best hands down. You’re dealing with concentrates here, which are packed with all those essential compounds that you need from your favorite strain. You can also customize how hard you want to get your recreational feel with a dab pen by regulating the temperature. Low temp gives you a smooth, mellow effect that lets you taste all the subtle flavors of your concentrate. High temp wallops you hard with bold flavors and massive hits.

Blunts, on the other hand, don’t have that much personal experience as with a dab pen. You probably need two or three blunt sessions to get the same effect as one session with a dab pen.

Smell

If you want to have a discreet session, vaping with a dab pen is the choice for you. There’s no combustion, and you don’t have to use a lighter to start vaping. Sure, there will still be a hint of odor, but does it smell as strong as smoking? No it does not, which is why some prefer using dab pens to traditional smoking.

People will definitely smell you when you use a blunt. Since we’re dealing with combusting materials, people within the vicinity can tell that you’re enjoying a session even in the darkness. Also, your cherry and lighter can be a give-away.

Using a dab pen and a blunt gives you different experiences. One is a modern, technological way of vaping your concentrates, while the other is leaning more towards a traditional way of enjoying your strains with a slight upgrade. Dab pens give you vapor, while blunts give you smoke. If you want a customizable experience, go for a dab pen. If you want immediate and straightforward satisfaction, we highly advise that you go for blunts.
