DIY Hookah Stand: Stabilizing Your Hookah

It’s always fun and relaxing when you smoke a Hookah, especially with friends and family. However, some of you may have experienced their Hookahs falling or tipping over when everyone gets rowdy, or when you grab the pipe the wrong way. A knocked over Hookha spells disaster: water spilling over, coals burning rugs and flooring, and also your feet! Here’s how to make a DIY Hookah stand to make your session fun, convenient, and safe.

Ice Bucket Hookah Stand

You can make your own hookah stand using an ice bucket. You can set this on the table, or on the floor if you want. However, since we are concerned about stability, it is not recommended that you attach a stand to this bucket. For this you will need:

  • An ice bucket that is twice as wide as the base of your Hookah. The opening should be about an inch lower than the lip of your base.
  • 4 Caster Wheels (optional)
  • A drill (optional)
  • Scotch tape or double sided tape (optional)
  • Waterproof sealants

Attach this mic holder to a backrest or a stand. You can use this to secure your SAHARA Dome Predator 30” Hookah hose.

Here’s how to assemble your ice bucket hookah stand.

  1. Fill the base of your Hookah to the recommended water level and attach the stem. Place it inside the bucket.
  2. Fill the bucket with ice (if you prefer) up to the neck of the base.
  3. Attach the hose, and you are ready to go.

If you want to put wheels underneath the bucket, make sure that you seal the holes to prevent leaks. To attach wheels to your Ice bucket:

  1. Trace the round base of your ice bucket on a sheet of paper. Make it as close to a circle as possible.
  2. Cut the traced outline and fold it equally into fours. Draw two straight lines across the circle using the fold marks as a reference.
  3. Mark each of the four lines about an inch from the edge of the cut-out. This is where you will drill the bottom of the bucket for the screws of our wheels.
  4. Invert the bucket and stick your cut-out on the bottom of your base using adhesive tapes. Make sure that the cut-out is at dead center so that the spacing is even for balance.
  5. Use your drill to create holes for wheels at the bottom of your bucket.
  6. Attach the wheels and use waterproof sealants to prevent leaks due to melting ice.

Tips for your stabilizing your Hookah stand

Wheels are optional, especially if have carpeted floors. If you wish to use your Hookah on a table, forget attaching wheels as well.

You can purchase a used mic stand to hold your Hookah hose so that it does not go anywhere and drag your Hookah. The good thing about this is that you can swivel it as well as adjust the height so you can go hands-free — the perfect way to enjoy your Hookah while working at home or playing with your game console.

The best DIY Hookah stand is one made out of heavy, durable materials. Go for heavy bottomed soup pots that you can get in thrift stores or garage sales if you can. You can also bolt or clamp your ice bucket to a wooden chair and clamp the hose to the backrest.
